Federal Court Temporarily Stops USCIS Fee Increases
A federal district court temporarily stopped the new rule that would have increased fees for immigration applications. The court said that the rule, announced by the USCIS is likely not lawful. The USCIS fee increase was set to start on October 2, 2020.
The rule would have increased fees for immigration applications and would have instituted a fee for filing asylum applications.
This ruling was a temporary stop to the fee increase. The decision in Immigrant Legal Resources Center v. Wolf granted a motion for a preliminary injunction, which stops the USCIS from implementing the new fee schedule while the court makes a final decision on the case.
